Police shoot dead man outside Hull
Police have confirmed that they shot dead a man just outside Hull early this morning.
The incident took place on the A63 near Welton in East Yorkshire. Humberside Police were called to the scene around 06:20 GMT, after receiving reports that a van was being driven the wrong way down the eastbound carriageway. The man was reported to have left his vehicle and was brandishing a sword.
Police have confirmed that the man was shot with plastic baton rounds and then with a firearm. He was pronounced dead at the scene, around 07:30 GMT.
The A63 is now closed in both directions and is expected to remain closed for most of the day, while forensic experts carry out an investigation at the scene.
The incident has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission, which will conduct an investigation.

Investigation continues as armed officers shoot man dead
Investigations were continuing today following the killing of a 23-year old man by armed officers from the Metropolitan Police in the Thornton Heath area of south London. According to police, a handgun was recovered at the scene of the shooting, which took place at around 11.25am on Wednesday in Raymead Passage, London Road in Thornton Heath.

British Man Dies In Dubai Police Custody
A British man has died in police custody in Dubai. Lee Bradley Brown, 39, from east London, died on Tuesday after he was taken to a Dubai police station where he was allegedly assaulted and put into a cell. It has been reported that Mr Brown, was arrested over a row at the luxury hotel Burj Al Arab hotel.

Police shoot woman dead in Sevenoaks
A woman has been shot dead in the centre of Sevenoaks by police. A 37-year-old woman was seen in the the centre of the town. Armed officers later shot the woman who was given first aid, but was pronunced dead. Part of the town centre close to the bus station was sealed off following the incident which occurred in the early hours of Monday morning.

Teenager Stabbed To Death In London
Police have said a teenager has been stabbed to death in north London. Officers were called to a property on the North Circular in Palmers Green at around just before 1am. They found a male at the scene. It is thought the victim is 17-years-old. He was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 1.
