Britons face US terror charges
The US has accused three British men of plotting terror attacks on financial institutions in three major US cities.
The three men, Dhiren Barot, Nadeem Tarmohammed and Qaisar Shaffi, are currently in British custody facing charges of plotting to use radioactive material, chemical weapons or explosives to carry out attacks. They were arrested in London during a series of anti-terror raids last August.
The US Department of Justice has alleged that between 2000 and 2001 the men carried out surveillance of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund in Washington, the Prudential Insurance Plaza in Newark, New Jersey and the New York Stock Exchange and Citigroup buildings in Manhattan.
US authorities were forced to tighten security around the buildings following the discovery of the alleged plot.
Mr Barot, Mr Tarmohammed and Mr Shaffi are due to stand trial in Britain next year. It has been reported that the US will seek to extradite the trio. The charges against the three men carry the possibility of life sentences in the US.

UK Property Prices 'Still Falling'
House prices in the three months to October were 1.2% lower than in the preceding three months, according to the Halifax. The financial services provider, part of the Lloyds Banking Group, said prices in October were 2.3% lower than at the end of 2009 on a seasonally adjusted basis (-1.2% unadjusted).

Manufacturing output shows slight upward trend
Figures published today by the Office of National Statistics have shown that between March and April this year manufacturing output rose by 0.9%. Man Arrested Over Kieran McGrath Murder
Detectives investigating the death of a man outside a police station in Greater Manchester have arrested three men. Kieran McGrath, 26, was shot outside the Sheldon Arms pub on 04 October last year. He then drove himself to Ashton-under-Lyne police station and collapsed outside its door. He died from a single gunshot wound to the chest.

An elderly woman suffered a broken nose when she was thrown to the floor by robbers as she walked home from the shops. The 78-year-old woman was recovering in hospital today after the ordeal in a busy Solihull street yesterday morning.

Ferry Officer Cleared Of Yacht Deaths
A car ferry officer has been found not guilty of the manslaughter of three crewmen who died when their yacht sank in the English Channel. Michael Hubble, 62, was accused of failing to raise the alarm when the P&O car ferry Pride of Bilbao allegedly narrowly missed the yacht Ouzo off the Isle of Wight last year.
