Wokingham teenager ‘stabbed in throat’

One of the two boys found dead in a wood in Berkshire died from a stab wound to the throat, it has been revealed.

A post-mortem revealed that Steven Bayliss, 16, from Finchampstead, died from an ‘incision wound’ to the throat. His friend, 14-year-old Twood Nadauld, also from Finchampstead, was said to have died from ‘less obvious’ injuries and forensic examinations are continuing to establish the cause of death.

Both boys were found, lying side by side, in woodland in Wokingham, Berkshire on Sunday. The bodies were discovered after a call was made to emergency services around 8:15pm on Sunday night.

Two men, both aged 18 and from the Wokingham area, were arrested following the discovery of the bodies. One was released without charge on Monday evening, while the other remains in custody. On Tuesday, police confirmed that they had been granted a warrant of detention to question the man for a further 24 hours.

Police have said that they are keeping an open mind on the motives for the killings.

Teenage friends of the two boys, including pupils at Emmbrook School, which they both attended, have been leaving flowers, cards and messages at the scene.
