Thailand murder - accused appear in court

Two Thai men accused of the rape and murder of British tourist Katherine Horton have appeared in court.

Bualoy Kotsith, 23 and Vichai Suankhaoyai, 24, were arrested on Monday in connection with the 21-year-old Cardiff student's death.

During the hearing, the two men - both local fisherman - signed their names, before being taken to Suritani provincial prison.

Miss Horton's body was found in the sea off the island of Koh Samui on January 2. She had last been seen on the evening of New Year's Day, talking to her mother on her mobile phone as she walked along the beach.

A post-mortem found that she had been beaten and raped before being dragged into the sea.

Miss Horton, a psychology student from Reading University, had been on holiday with a friend, Ruth Adams, at the time of her murder.

Thai police said that both Kotsith and Suankhaoyai had admitted killing Miss Horton and Kotsith also admitted raping her.
