Nurse killed in hospital stabbing

A murder inquiry has been launched after a nurse was stabbed to death at a hospital.

It is understood that the woman was attacked on parkland at the back of St George's Hospital in Hornchurch on Thursday morning.

The woman, who has not been named, is understood to be aged in her 30s. Police said that she suffered multiple stab wounds.

Scotland Yard confirmed that they were called to the hospital shortly after 11am on Thursday morning.

A police helicopter was dispatched to take photos of the scene and search for suspects.

Three Arrested Over Northampton Arson
Police in Northampton have arrested three people in connection with an arson attack on a derelict hospital. More than 80 firefighters were needed to tackle a blaze at the former Crispin Psychiatric Hopital on Berrywood Road on 6 August. Two men aged 23 and one aged 20 have been arrested on suspicion of arson.

Fatal Crash Closes Fog-Bound M1
A man has been killed and up to 16 people injured in a motorway pile-up in heavy fog in the early hours of Thursday morning. The incident, which involved a coach, a tanker and eight other vehicles, happened on the M1 in Hertfordshire around 4am.

Woman Dies In Newport Shooting
A woman has died following a shooting incident in Newport, south Wales this morning. Armed police responded to a report of gunshots at around 08:45 on Thursday morning, and found a man and woman with gunshot wounds. The make and female victims were taken to Royal Gwent Hospital where the woman died a short time later.
