Man suffers 'horrific' injuries in row over dogs

A man has suffered 'horrific' injuries after being attacked with a meat cleaver in a row over two dogs.

The 35-year-old man was attacked in Hammersmith, west London on Thursday evening.

He had been walking along Jeddo Road around 8:30pm when two dogs - a Great Dane and a Staffordshire Terrier - began biting his ankles.

He shouted at the owners of the dogs for not having the animals on leads. However, he was then followed by the men, who encouraged the dogs to attack him, before one of the men attacked the victim with a meat cleaver.

Police said that the victim sustained deep head wounds during the attack. Three of the fingers on his left hand were also severed and his left arm was nearly severed at the elbow.

The victim also suffered several cleaver wounds to the backs of his legs, causing severe tendon damage.

One of his little fingers had to be amputated later.

The attackers, who fled the scene, are described as black, about 5ft 7in tall and in their mid to late twenties.
