Prince Harry launches Aids charity

Prince Harry has launched a charity to help children orphaned by Aids, in memory of his mother Diana, Princess of Wales.

The charity, called Sentebale - meaning "forget me not" - will help Aids orphans in the south African country of Lesotho.

The charity, which will be run by Clarence House, was co-founded with the country's Prince Seeiso, whose own mother, Queen Mamohato, died in 2003.

Prince Harry has visited Lesotho four times, since his first visit two years ago. He returned to the country this week to launch the new charity and was reunited with Mutsu Potsane, an Aids orphan he met during an earlier visit.

Prince Harry said that he wanted to continue the work begun by his mother and said that he hoped she would be proud of him.

The charity plans to offer long-term support to small and new projects that might not receive large-scale funding.

It is estimated that around a third of Lesotho's 1.8 million population has HIV or Aids.
