Prince Harry On Charity Mission

Prince Harry is to join personnel from his regiment working in Africa for his favourite charity.

The Royal will travel to the Kingdom of Lesotho this summer with military colleagues to work on projects supported by his charity 'Sentebale' launched in the memory of his mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, in 2006.

Sentebale was founded by Prince Seeiso from the Lesotho Royal family and Prince Harry in response to the plight of Lesotho's orphans and vulnerable children.

In it's mission statement, Sentebale's says that it "targets particular support to the most vulnerable children "the abused, disabled, ill, abandoned and neglected".

The three-week expedition, which has secured a sponsorship deal with Land Rover, will be led by a senior officer.

Prince Harry, a lieutenant in the Household Cavalry's Blues and Royals first visited Lesotho during his gap year in 2004 when he met young TV and Aids sufferers.

The excursion by the members of the Household Calvary has been planned for some time.

It is believed that the Prince suggested the charity as a beneficiary of Army help.

The Princes have a continuing role as active patrons but Sentebale's main operations are now based in Lesotho headed by a Country Director.

Sentebale translates as "forget me not".

Lesotho - formerly Basutoland, is a member of the Commonwealth of Nations.
