Mother makes appeal in suitcase murder case

The mother of murdered teenager Terry Edmonds has made an emotional appeal for information about her daughter's killer.

The body of the 17-year-old was found concealed inside a dark green suitcase left near the entrance to Morrisons' supermarket car park in Vale Avenue, Tunbridge Wells, on April 29.

She had last been seen around 6:20pm on Easter Monday, near Tunbridge Wells railway station.

Three men have so far been arrested in the hunt for Terry's murderer. One of the men, a 21-year-old, remains on police bail.

Speaking at a press conference at Tonbridge police station, Helen Edmonds described her daughter's death as "horrific". She said: "My worst fears came true when I heard that Terry's body had been found. It's every mother's worst nightmare. It changed our family's life forever.

"I will never get over losing my beautiful daughter. She was young and clever and had her whole life in front of her, she had lots she wanted to do."

Miss Edmonds urged anyone with any information to contact police.

Kent Police said that they were following a number of inquiries following a recent appeal for information regarding the suitcase used to hide Terry's body.

Chief Superintendent Mark Salisbury, the area commander for West Kent, said: "Terry's mother has shown great courage after learning of her daughter's murder and in coming forward today to make this appeal.

"If you have any information about Terry's death, please contact us immediately on the incident room number of phone Crimestoppers."

Anyone with any information can contact police on: 01622 654850 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on: 0800 555 111.
