Funeral held for hotel death plunge boy
The funeral of a six-year-old boy who died in a fall from a hotel balcony with his father in Crete has been held in Bristol.
Liam Hogan's funeral was held at Holy Trinity Church in Bradley Stoke, near to the Hogan family home.
Hundreds of mourners gathered at the church to pay tribute to the boy, earlier described by his mother Natasha as "a happy little chap".
Liam's body was carried in a white coffin, covered with white roses and sunflowers. A Dalek - from Liam's favourite TV show 'Doctor Who' - made from sunflowers was also placed next to his coffin.
Mrs Hogan, 34, was helped into the church for the private service by her mother Elizabeth.
Liam died from a head injury sustained in a fall from the Petra Mare Hotel in Lerapetra in Crete on August 16. His father, John Hogan, 32, and his two-year-old sister Mia were also injured in the fall.
Mia suffered a broken arm and has since returned to the UK. Mr Hogan remains in hospital in Crete, suffering from a broken arm, leg and chest injuries.
The Foreign Office said that Mr Hogan would be arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder when he fully recovered.
The Hogan family had been on a two-week holiday in Crete when the tragedy occurred.
An inquest into Liam's death was opened and adjourned at Bourton Coroner's Court near Bristol last week, pending further inquiries by the Greek authorities.
