Teen admits killing young footballer

A teenager has admitted killing a promising young footballer who was stabbed to death outside his school.

Fifteen-year-old Kiyan Prince, who played for Queen's Park Rangers' youth team, died after being stabbed near the London Academy, Edgeware, on May 18.

A 16-year-old youth, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at the Old Bailey on Monday. He admitted manslaughter, but denied murdering Kiyan.

However, the manslaughter plea was not accepted by the prosecution and he will stand trial for murder.

A jury was sworn in on Monday, but the trial is not due to begin until Tuesday.
