Three men found guilty of Kriss Donald murder

Three men have been guilty of the racially motivated murder of Glasgow teenager Kriss Donald at the High Court in Edinburgh.

Mohammed Faisal Mushtaq, 27 and brothers Zeeshan and Imran Shahid - 28 and 29, respectively - were found guilty of abduction and murder by a jury after eight hours of deliberation.

All three had denied the charges.

Imran Shahid was told that he would have to serve a minimum of 25 years, while Zeeshan Shahid was sentenced to a minimum of 23 years and Mustaq was sentenced to a minimum of 22 years.

Kriss, 15, was abducted and forced into a car in Kenmure Street in Pollokshields on March 15, 2004.

He was stabbed 13 times and set on fire, possibly while he was still alive. His body was found behind Celtic FC's training ground in the east end of Glasgow.

Another man, Daanish Zahid, 20, was found guilty of Kriss' murder at an earlier trial and was jailed for life and is serving a minimum sentence of 17 years.

Zahid Mohammed, 22, served half of a five-year sentence after pleading guilty to the abduction of the teenager. He provided evidence at this trial.

Speaking outside the court, Kriss' mother Angela Donald said: "Justice has been done, thank you - it is over."
