Five police officers arrested in probe

Five police officers have been arrested as part of an investigation into alleged money laundering.

The five officers all understood to be serving officers in the Metropolitan Police Force were arrested during raids this morning.

Four other people believed to be members of the public have also been arrested.

The police officers, an inspector, a sergeant, and three constables have all been suspended from duty.

A spokesperson for Scotland yard said all those arrested have been released on bail pending further inquiries.

Black police officers' group slams DNA figures
A black police officers' group has called for an investigation into the national DNA database, after a report suggested that black people were over-represented on the system. According to research conducted by the 'Guardian' newspaper, 37% of all black men are included on the database, compared to 9% of white men.

Woman Arrested At Heathrow On Terrorism Charges
A 25-year-old woman has been arrested at Heathrow Airport on suspicion of terrorism offences. It is understood that the woman was travelling with her one-year-old son when officers arrested her as she disembarked a flight from Turkey. Police said her charges relate to offences in Syria.

Survey reveals threat faced by police
Around 7,000 police officers have been threatened with a gun and 40,000 police officers have been threatened with a knife while on duty in the past two years, a survey has revealed.

Queen unveils National Police Memorial
The Queen has unveiled a National Police Memorial in tribute to British police officers killed in the line of duty. The £2.3 million project includes a large black wall with a glass cabinet displaying a book which names 1,600 police officers who have died in the line of duty.

Five Men Arrested Under Terrorism Act
Five men have been arrested under the Terrorism Act following raids in Manchester and Bolton. The arrests took place in a co-ordinated operation starting at 4am this morning. Three addresses in Manchester and one in Bolton are currently being searched.
