Man remanded over Pc shooting

A man has been remanded in custody charged with the attempted murder of a police officer in Wolverhampton.

Pc Geoff King, 33, was on plain-clothes duty, when he was shot twice in the shoulder on Saturday night in the city centre. He remains in hospital after having surgery on his left shoulder.

Marcus Bailey, of Merry Hill, Wolverhampton, appeared at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court on Wednesday, charged with attempted murder and two firearms offences.

He was remanded in custody to appear before Wolverhampton Crown Court at a later date.

Man Charged With Attempted Murder Over Wolverhampton Double Stabbing
A 24-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder following a double stabbing in Wolverhampton. Marcel Mowbray, of Eastfield Grove, is due to appear before Wolverhampton magistrates. A 57-year-old woman remains in hospital in a stable condition with wounds to her neck, while a 55-year-old man with injuries to his back has been released.

A man has appeared in court charged with the attempted murder of a girl in south-east London. Peter Anscombe, a 28-year-old healthcare assistant from St Mary Cray in Kent, appeared at Bromley Magistrates Court charged with the attempted murder of Carly Furness, 17, on Saturday.

A man who tracked down his ex-wife and attacked her with an axe causing her spine to severe has been jailed for 13 years. Roland Cook, 59, drove hundreds of miles from his home in England in a hired van with blacked out windows to attack Barbara Graham, 55, as she walked home from her job in an Edinburgh supermarket in June.

Man Due In Court Over Wolverhampton Body Find
A 25-year-old man is due to appear in court charged in connection with the discovery of a body in Wolverhampton. Patrick Ryan was arrested at his home on Blackwood Avenue, Wednesfield on Sunday 11 October, in connection with the discovery of the body of a 42-year-old man on the same street earlier that day.
