Man pleads not guilty over family killings

A 36-year-old man has pleaded not guilty to murdering his wife and three children in court in Manchester.

Rahan Arshad appeared at Manchester Crown Court on Monday charged with the murder of his wife Uzma, 32, his two sons - Adam, 11, and Abbas 8 - and his six-year-old daughter Henna. He pleaded not guilty to four courts of murder.

The bodies of Uzma Rahan and the three children were found in their home in Cheadle Hulme, Greater Manchester on August 20.

Post-mortems revealed that all four died from serious head injuries.

The examinations also revealed that the bodies could have lain undiscovered for up to four weeks.

Mr Arshad was remanded into custody.

The case was adjourned until January 9.

Former Royal Butler Admits Child Abuse Offences
A former royal butler to the Queen has today pleaded guilty to a number of child sex offences. Paul Kidd, 55, of Stalybridge, Greater Manchester appeared in court today accused of a number of charges including the possession of child porn, indecent assault and sexual activity with a child.

Jail For 'Prolific' Manchester Offender
A 22-year-old Manchester man has been jailed for two and a half years for a series of offences. Aaron Ainsley of Palgrave Avenue, Monsall, committed the majority of his 12 crimes within a three month period, Greater Manchester Police said. Ainsley pleaded guilty charges including burglary, aggravated taking of a vehicle and dangerous driving.

Two More Charged In Denton Murder Investigation
Two more people have been charged with murder in connection with the death of a man in Denton on Sunday. Dominic Doyle, 21, died in hospital after he was seriously injured in a large fight on Manchester Road at about 3am on Sunday. Police arrested four teenagers, aged between 15 and 18, following the incident, with three being charged.
