Pensioner dies following mugging

West Midlands Police have appealed for information following the death of a pensioner who was mugged in Walsall on Tuesday night.

Sobat Ali, 67, is believed to have been involved in an altercation with up to three men in Hart Street, Caldmore around 6:30pm on Tuesday evening, after purchasing some jewellery.

Police believe that the jewellery was taken from Mr Ali, who lived locally, during the attack.

The scene has been cordoned off for forensic examination and a post-mortem is due to take place.

Police have appealed for anyone who saw three black men in the area where the attack took place to contact them.

Police officers investigating the attempted murder of a four-year-old boy are appealing for help in tracing the remains of the distress flare that caused his critical injuries. They have released details of a flare similar to that used during the attack in Chatteris Avenue, Harold Hill on Saturday 14 November.

Teenager stabbed to death in Blackpool
A 16-year-old boy has been stabbed to death in Blackpool. It is understood that the teenager, who has not been named, was found in Cockerham Walk in Grange Park, Blackpool in the early hours of Monday morning. It is believed that he died from a single stab wound to the chest.

Baby girl suffered 'human bite marks'
Strathclyde Police have launched an investigation after a baby girl was taken to hospital, covered in what is believed to be human bite marks. The 17-week-old child, from Oban, Argyll, was taken to hospital on Saturday.
