Man dies following town centre shooting
A man has died after shooting himself in a town centre in Sussex.
The shooting took place in Southover High Street in Lewes around 7:20pm on Tuesday night.
Police were called to the scene and found the man, who has not been identified, suffering from gunshot wounds.
He was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton, but later died.
Sussex Police said that they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
A police spokesperson said that the incident has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission because unarmed police officers had attended the scene.

Two Arrested Over Hastings Pier Blaze
As firefighters continue to battle the blaze on Hastings pier in East Sussex, two men have been arrested on suspicion of arson. East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service, who spent most of the night trying to control the fire, said around 95% of the Victorian pier has been destroyed. There are no reports of any injuries.

A former Church of England bishop and a retired priest have been arrested on suspicion of sex abuse. The Right Reverend Peter Ball, a former bishop of Lewes and Gloucester, is being held on suspicion of abusing eight boys and men in the late 1980s and early 1990s. He was arrested at his home near Langport, Somerset.

Police are investigating shootings in south Wales which left a man dead and two men injured. Gwent Police said that they had been called to a report of a shooting in Usk View, Govilon, Abergavenny around 2:50pm on Sunday. Two men, believed to be brothers, aged 17 and 20, were found in the garden of a house.

University gunman was 'disturbed loner'
The gunman who shot dead 32 people at a US college has been described as a loner, whose college work was "disturbing". Cho Seung-Hui, a 23-year-old from South Korea, who had been resident in the US since 1992, was an English student at Virginia Tech who lived on campus.

A British man has died in police custody in Dubai. Lee Bradley Brown, 39, from east London, died on Tuesday after he was taken to a Dubai police station where he was allegedly assaulted and put into a cell. It has been reported that Mr Brown, was arrested over a row at the luxury hotel Burj Al Arab hotel.
