Man bailed in rail shooting case
A man arrested in connection with the shooting of a commuter who intervened in an armed robbery at a railway station in Essex has been released on police bail.
Adam Mapleson, 24, was shot in the chest as he attempted to intervene when a security guard and her colleague were held at gunpoint by armed robbers as they loaded a cash machine at Rayleigh railway station on Friday morning.
Mr Mapleson is being treated in Southend Hospital where his condition is described as "comfortable and improving".
A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: "Inquiries are continuing. We are not releasing any details about the arrested man."
A £25,000 reward has been offered for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the robbers.

The man was arrested in Putney, west London on Tuesday. Meanwhile, another man, who was arrested at Gatwick Airport on Wednesday is continuing to be questioned by police.

Third man arrested over shooting
Police have confirmed that a third man has been arrested in connection with the shooting of two teenagers at a McDonalds restaurant. The 18-year-old is being questioned at a south London police station. The two youths both aged 17 were shot by a gunman at the restaurant in Brixton on September 28.

A 25-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting in Garston, Liverpool on Tuesday night. Police were called to reports of a road accident between a car and a scrambler bike on Banks Road in Garston at about 20:45 last night. However, when police arrived at the scene they found an 18-year-old man with serious gunshot wounds.
