Appeal following City bar murder

Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward following the murder of a 21-year-old man at a bar in London's financial district on Friday.

Lee Cook, a barrister's clerk from Harold Wood, Essex, was with friends at the Alibi bar on Shoe Lane in the City when he was involved in an incident with another group around 10:45pm on Friday night.

It is believed that Mr Cook was hit at least three times during the incident.

City of London Police said that the attack took place close to the venue's dance floor.

No weapon has been recovered so far and a post-mortem examination was due to be carried out on Tuesday.

Two people are currently being questioned and inquiries are continuing.

Detective Superintendent Tony Crampton said: "We have already spoken to a number of people who were in the Alibi bar on Friday evening. There were almost 200 people in the bar at the time of the incident and I would appeal to those who have not yet spoken to us to get in touch as soon as possible."

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on: 0207 601 2829 or Crimestoppers anonymously on: 0800 555 111.
