One Missing After Boat Capsizes Lough Carnan

One person is missing following reports that a boat carrying 13 children and an instructor capsized on a loch in the Western Isles.

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) confirmed a search and rescue operation was taking place after the incident on Lough Carnan on South Uist.

Twelve of the children have been accounted for, according to local reports.

Stornoway Coastguard helicopter, Northern Constabulary officers, Barra lifeboat and coastguard officers from Benbecula and Lochboisdale are all involved in the search attempts.

A Royal National Lifeboat Institution spokeswoman said a female, whose age is unknown is missing: “The Barra lifeboat was launched to go to Loch Carnan. We were launched to go and search for a missing person who is female."

She confirmed that the others in the party were ashore.

Loch Carnan is a sea loch on the island of South Uist, in the Western Isles.

Cairngorms Runner Found 'Safe And Well'
A 25-year-old man missing in the Cairngorms has been found "safe and well", Police Scotland announced. Kevin Steenson, from Dumfries, was reported missing at about 17:00 on Tuesday. Mr Steenson had been with a party of six runners, who had set off from the Sugarbowl, near Loch Morlich.

Teenager missing near Loch Lomond
A joint search operation involving Clyde Coastguard and the police has been launched after a 15-year-old boy was reported missing while holidaying with his family near Loch Lomond. The boy was last seen at 4.45pm on Tuesday evening on the opposite shore of Loch Lomond from Ardlui. Strathclyde police issued a request for assistance at around 04.

Police Investigate Forth Body Discovery
Fife Police are investigating the discovery of a dead body which was found floating in the Firth of Forth on Sunday. The Coastguard was alerted to an area of water off Hawkscraig Point, near Burntisland, by the skipper of a local yacht who discovered the body floating in the water. The crew of the Kinghorn Lifeboat recovered the body.

Missing Loch Lomond teen found dead
The body of missing 15-year-old Adam Shad, who had been missing since Tuesday, has been recovered from a river at Loch Lomond. Adam's body was found in the River Falloch where it meets Loch Lomond a short time ago.

Canoeists Die After Highland Loch Rescue
A man and his seven-year-old son have died after getting into difficulties while on a canoeing trip on Loch Maree in Wester Ross, Scotland. A search and rescue operation was launched when the pair did not return from their planned 20-minute trip on the inland loch, south of Ullapool.
