New Madeleine Search Hits Dead End

A fresh search for missing British girl Madeleine McCann has revealed nothing, it has been reported.

Police in Portugal had been conducting a new search at the home of Briton Robert Murat, who lives in a villa in Praia da Luz, around 100 yards from where the four-year-old disappeared on May 3.

Mr Murat, who remains the only formal suspect in the case, has denied any involvement in Madeleine's disappearance.

Meanwhile, police are also investigating reports of a possible sighting of Madeleine in the town of Tongeren in Belgium.

According to reports, a woman in a restaurant in the town reported seeing a girl she believed to be Madeleine in the company of a Dutch man and an English-speaking woman.

On Sunday, Madeleine's mother Kate McCann told reporters of her regret at leaving her children alone in their holiday apartment on the night she disappeared. Mrs McCann said that she was "desperately sorry".
