Microlight Crash - Two Killed

Two men have been killed in a light aircraft crash near the Northamptonshire-Bedfordshire border.

It is understood that the pair were flying in a two-seater microlight - a powered glider - near the A6 in Rushden, when the crash happened around 8:30pm on Sunday night.

Both men - understood to be from Bedford and Luton - were pronounced dead at the scene.

The men have not been named, but a spokesperson for Northamptonshire Police confirmed that their relatives have been informed. Their names are expected to be released after formal identification takes place.

The craft involved in the crash is understood to be a three-axis flexi-wing microlight with a two-seater pod.

The Air Accidents Investigation Branch has been informed of the crash and are now attending the scene of the incident.

Two Die In Chester Plane Crash
Two men were killed when their light aircraft crashed near Churton village, south of Chester, on Thursday night, the Guardian has reported. A Cheshire police spokeswoman said: "Sadly the two men on board the aircraft, one from north Wales and a second man from Surrey, sustained fatal injuries.
