More Than 6,000 Driver Details Lost
The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency NI has lost personal details of more than 66,000 drivers in Northern Ireland, it has been reported.
It is understood that the names and addresses of the motorists were contained on two computer discs, which have gone missing, along with vehicle registration marks, chassis numbers, makes and colours.
The discs are reported to have disappeared after being sent from the DVLA in Coleraine in Co. Londonderry to the main DVLA in Swansea.
Arlene Foster, Northern Ireland's Environment Minister, said that the discs had been sent on November 20 and 21 and they had arrived in Coventry. However, on December, it emerged that the discs had not arrived in Swansea.
Letters have been written to notify every vehicle owner affected.
The news comes less than a month after two discs containing Revenue and Customs data, including the names, addresses and bank details of 25 million child benefit recipients, also went missing.

Laptops Stolen From Hospital

HSBC Loses Customers' Details Disc
The HSBC bank has admitted that a computer disc, containing details of 370,000 customers, has been lost. The disc contains customers' names, dates of birth and levels of life assurance cover. It is understood that the disc went missing four weeks ago after it was sent via courier from the bank's Southampton offices.
