The men, aged 44 and 21, have been arrested on suspicion of murder and have been taken to a police station in Cornwall for questioning.

The fire broke out at the Penhallow Hotel in Newquay on August 18 last year. More than 80 people escaped from the fire, but three people all from Staffordshire, died.

Peter Hughes, 43, from Cheslyn Hay, was killed as he tried to rescue his 86-year-old mother Monica from the fire. Mrs Hughes also died, along with 80-year-old Joan Harper, from Stoke-on-Trent.

The hotel was later demolished following the fire, which was described as the worst in the county for 30 years.
