McGregor In Talks For 'Angels And Demons'

Scottish actor Ewan McGregor is in talks to play a key role in Dan Brown's 'Angels and Demons'.

The Hollywood Reporter has said that McGregor, 37, could play the role of the Pope in the movie.

Tom Hanks will return in the role of symbologist professor Robert Langdon - which he played in the adaptation of Brown's novel 'The Da Vinci Code' - who joins Vittoria Vetra – played by Ayelet Zurer - a scientist at nuclear research organisation CERN, in a mission to solve her father's murder and foil the plans of terrorists.

Ron Howard, who directed 'The Da Vinci Code', will return to direct the film, which is set to begin shooting in Europe in June.

'Angels and Demons' centres around a conflict between the Illuminati and the Roman Catholic Church.

Dan Brown is best known for his controversial 'The Da Vinci Code' which speculated on the origin of the Holy Grail.

McGregor is also starring in erotic thriller 'Deception' released today.
