Accused Found Guilty In Royal Blackmail Trial

Two men accused of blackmailing a member of the Royal Family have been found guilty at the Old Bailey. The pair have been each jailed for five years.

The blackmail centres on tapes featuring gay sex claims made by a royal employee.

Ian Strachan, 31, and Sean McGuigan, 41, had denied charged of demanding £50,000 for the tapes.

The claims included that the unnamed royal performed a sex act on the employee at a party.

The jury heard that the men approached the royal following an attempt to sell the recordings to newspapers.

Aberdeen-born Mr Strachan, and Mr McGuigan were arrested after meeting an undercover police officer posing as a royal aide at a London hotel last September.
