Reward Offered In Murder Probe
Police hunting the person(s) responsible for the murder of a 66 year-old man are offering a £20,000 reward for information.
Alan Bailey, from Boycroft Avenue, was found dead at his home in March.
Police had attended the address after his neighbours had reported their concern for his welfare.
Mr Bailey was described as being "a recluse by nature" and was said to search restaurant bins for food in the early hours of the morning.
It is believed that Mr Bailey was a victim of a robbery in November last year.
A post-mortem carried out gave the cause of death as multiple injuries and established that the victim may have been dead for some months.
Detective Inspector Lee Presland, presiding over the investigation said:
"Robbery may have been a motive, but given Mr Bailey's unkempt appearance, it is equally possible he was targeted simply for mindless amusement.
"This was a sustained attack on a vulnerable elderly male. I would urge anyone who has information to come forward and I hope that this offer of a substantial reward may encourage them to do so."
Three males aged 14 and 19 and 20 and one female aged 14 were arrested in connection with the inquiry.
All have been bailed to return at a later date pending further enquiries.
Anyone with information is asked to call 020 8358 0200.
