Two Men Arrested After Rochdale Murder

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was found dead in Rochdale. Police were called to Royds Street, Turf Hill, Rochdale, following reports from the Ambulance Service that a man had been attacked. It is reported that the man was in his 40s. The death is being treated as suspicious although the exact cause of death is yet to be determined. Forensics and officers from Greater Manchester Police's major investigation unit have cordoned off the road and are making house-to-house enquiries this morning. A post mortem is due to be carried out. Two men aged 26 and 36, from Rochdale, have been arrested on suspicion of murder. They remain in custody for questioning. Police are appealing for witnesses.

Inquiry Into Baby Death

An investigation into the death of a baby girl is to be reopened. Five days have been set aside for a fatal accident inquiry. Angus Hutcheson, from Melrose, was born and died at Edinburgh's Royal Infirmary in 2004. The infant's death was not suspicious although the hearing will investigate the circumstances. The inquiry will begin at Jedburgh Sheriff Court on 25 August, with a further four days if required.

Man suspected of police shooting dies in hospital
A 28-year-old Huddersfield man suspected of injuring two detectives in a firearm attack has died in hospital. The man, who has not been named, had been questioned by police officers at the Fleece Inn pub on Elland Road in Ripponden, West Yorkshire, yesterday afternoon.

Attempted murder inquiry launched after shooting
Gwent Police have launched an attempted murder inquiry following the shooting of two brothers in Abergavenny on Sunday. Police were called to reports of a shooting in Usk View, Govilon on Sunday afternoon. Two men, brothers Gareth Harris, 17, and Anthony Price, 20, were found in the garden of a house, with gunshot wounds to the lower legs.

Man Charged Over Hospital Murder
A man has been charged in connection with the murder of a female patient at a psychiatric hospital in Greater Manchester. The 58-year-old woman was assaulted in a ward at Birch Hill Hospital in Rochdale on Monday evening. She was taken to Rochdale Royal Infirmary, but died later.

15-Year-Old Arrested After 60 Dogs Killed In Fire
At least 60 dogs have been killed in a fire at a dogs home in Manchester, which is believed to have been started deliberately. A 15-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of arson after a fire was started at Manchester Dogs' Home in Moss Brook Road, Harpurhey, on Thursday.
