Teenager In Court Over Knife Death

A teenager is due to appear in court today, charged with the murder of 14-year-old David Idowu.

David died on July 7 - three weeks after he was stabbed in the chest and stomach following an altercation with a group of youths in south London.

The 16-year-old suspect - who cannot be named for legal reasons - will appear at Camberwell Youth Court. He has previously appeared in court charged with attempted murder prior to David's death.

David was the 19th victim to die in knife attacks in London this year. The toll has since risen to 20.

The youngster was attacked just days before he was due to make a speech urging others to give up knives at the world's biggest speaking event for young people.
