Brothers in court over boat captain's death

Two brothers are due to appear in court charged with the murder of a pleasure boat captain.

Christopher Liddard, 26, of Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire and his 21-year-old brother Andrew, from Harlow in Essex, have been charged with murder and affray in connection with the death of Michael Reed.

The 67-year-old from Barking in east London died in hospital on Saturday.

Earlier in the evening, police officers had been called to Tower Pier in central London following reports of an argument.

The Liddard brothers are due to appear in court on Monday.

A convicted child abuser has today been jailed for two years and three months for doing nothing to stop his ex-partner's "horrific" cruelty against her son. Paul Husband, 33, from Newham, east London, was found guilty of neglect in relation to the death of two-month-old Rhys Biggs.

Teenager remanded over schoolboy death
A 14-year-old boy has appeared in court charged with the murder of schoolboy Joe Geeling. The eleven-year-old, who suffered from cystic fibrosis, disappeared last Wednesday afternoon shortly after leaving St Gabriel's Roman Catholic High School in Bury, Greater Manchester. His body was found in a park in Bury on Thursday.
