Young Woman Dies In Car Collision

A young woman has died in a car crash in Cumbria. Alice Brooks-Taylor, 19, of Newcastleton, died in a collision between a Vauxhall Corsa and a Ford Mondeo on the A6071 on the Gretna to Longtown Road, near the Springfield Junction, on Wednesday at 10.55pm. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Ford Mondeo, a 35-year-old man from Berwickshire, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and was bailed to return to Carlisle Police Station on 13 September. A statement from the family read: "Ali was a much loved daughter who will be sadly missed by everyone who knew her, including her two brothers and two sisters and her boyfriend. "She had achieved so much in her life and was passionate about the Newcatleton Folk Festival - she was one of the primary organisers for the event." A police investigation into the collision is underway. Police are appealing for witnesses.

Elderly Belfast Man Dies After Being Knocked Down

A 100-year-old man has died after he was knocked down by a car in north Belfast. The accident occurred at around 11.25am in Tennant Street, near the care home where he lived. Grainger McIldoon was admitted to hospital but died on Wednesday. Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

Six Arrested Over Nottingham Street Brawl Death
Police investigating the death of a 19-year-old man in Nottingham have arrested six people. Joshua Bradley, of Bulwell, died following a suspected street fight in Thurland Street, on 08 February. Two men, aged 21 and 19, have been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Family Appeal Over Murder Of 'Decent Law-Abiding Citizen'
The family of a Birmingham taxi driver who was stabbed and left on the roadside to die, have issued an appeal to help catch his killer. Mohammed Arshad, 36, died last Thursday after being assaulted in Kings Norton, Birmingham, on Wednesday night. He was found by a passer-by and taken to Selly Oak Hospital where he died the following morning.

Two more arrested over attempted car bombings
Police investigating the attempted car bombings in London and Glasgow airport have arrested two more people. Two men, aged 28 and 25, were arrested in the Paisley area, west of Glasgow on Sunday night Five people are still being held in connection with the attacks, but it is believed that at least one suspect remains on the run.

Man Dies Following Police Pursuit
A man has died after the car he was travelling in crashed on the outskirts of Consett following a short pursuit by police. The incident, which started just after 11.50pm on Monday, 23rd June when police received a report of two men behaving suspiciously in the area of the Tesco Extra store on Genesis Way in Consett.

Police Appeal For Witnesses To Fatal Car Park Accident
A two-year-old girl has died after being hit by a car in a north-west London supermarket car park. Police have appealed for witnesses. Metropolitan Police has said that the child was hit by a vehicle in the car park of Asda in Forty Lane, Wembley. She was treated by paramedics but later died in hospital.
