Hard Shoulder Victim 'Critical'

A 37-year-old man is in hospital after he was found injured on the side of the M56. Officers were called to the scene after passing motorists reported seeing a man lying on the hard shoulder on Saturday at around 3.30am. The man was taken to hospital suffering stab wounds to his body. His condition is described as critical but stable.

Officers are appealing to anyone who has any information on this to contact Wythenshawe CID on 0161 856 6145.

Man Hospitalised After Fight Outside Pub

A man has been admitted to hospital suffering from stab wounds after an early morning altercation in Bristol. The victim suffered wounds to his chest in the fight outside the Coach House pub in Stapleton Road in the Easton area. A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said the man, thought to be in his 20s, was taken to the city's Royal Infirmary. The man's injuries are not thought to be life threatening. Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

Police Continue To Question Father Over Boy's Fatal Stabbing
Police investigating the fatal stabbing of a four-year-old boy in Huddersfield at the weekend are continuing to question his father. Ryan Hawkins died after being stabbed at a house in Royd Street in Slaithwaite around 1pm on Sunday. A post-mortem revealed that he died from multiple stab wounds.

Man Murdered In Brentford
A murder inquiry is underway following a stabbing in Brentford. Police were called to the scene around 1am on Sunday 28 November by the ambulance service to reports of two men stabbed at the junction of New Road and Hamilton Road, Brentford.

82-Year-Old Man Found Stabbed To Death
Gloucestershire Police have launched a murder investigation after the body of an 82-year-old man was discovered in Stroud. Police said the man, whose identity has not be released, was found at a property on Walkley Hill on Friday. The man died of stab wounds, according to the police.

Two Dead After London Stabbings
Two teenagers have been killed in separate stabbing incidents in London. A 19-year-old man received fatal knife wounds at 7.30pm on Thursday night, at High Weald Service Station in Wealdstone, north-west London, police have said. Another man, also aged 19, also suffered stab wounds to the torso. He is said to be in a stable condition in hospital.

Reid gives 'green light' for £4bn PFI hospital deal
The 'green light' has been given for 15 new NHS hospital developments in a Private Finance Initiative (PFI) deal worth more than £4 billion, it has been announced today. Today's announcement will bring investment in new NHS hospitals to more than £16 billion since 1997, the health department said.
