Man Questioned Over Recruitment Agency Death

A 52-year-old man is being questioned by police in connection with the death of a man at a driver recruitment agency in Wales.

The arrest follows an incident yesterday at Driverline 247 Ltd in New Inn, Pontypool, South Wales, when one man died and three others were injured.

They are understood to be treated for smoke inhalation after the offices were set on fire, before the attacker fled.

The 52-year-old man, from Cardiff, was arrested on suspicion of murder, attempted murder and false imprisonment.

Armed South Wales Police officers surrounded a property in Penrhos Crescent, in the Rumney area of Cardiff.

The area was cordoned off and residents were asked to leave their homes while the property was raided. After six hours, police said the property was found to be empty.

Police then made an arrest shortly after, in Newport. South Wales Police said: "We can confirm that officers were in attendance at a property in Rumney, Cardiff, in relation to an ongoing Gwent Police investigation.

"Armed police were deployed to the scene as a precaution in order to ensure the safety of members of the public and officers at the scene.

"A search of the property was conducted and the property was found to be empty. We can confirm there was no hostage situation at the property."

Gwent Police arrived at the scene at about 1.30pm on Monday and found a middle-aged man dead.

The three surviving men were taken to Royal Gwent Hospital, Newport and are believed to be in stable conditions.
