Ninth Person Arrested Over Post Office Death

Police investigating the death of a sub-postmaster's son during an armed raid have arrested a ninth person.

Police confirmed four people were arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.

Another four people were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, West Mercia Police said.

Another woman was arrested on Tuesday evening in Birmingham. She is being held on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Craig Hodson-Walker, 29, was shot in the chest and died from gunshot wounds following a robbery in Fairfield, Worcestershire.

His 56-year-old father Ken was shot in the leg during the incident which took place at the village post office at 8.20am on Friday. He remains in a stable condition in hospital after surgery.

Three men wearing balaclavas, armed with a handgun and a sledgehammer, came into the post office and demanded money.

The men's getaway car - a silver Volkswagen Golf - was later found abandoned nearby in Bournheath Road.

Anyone with information has been urged to contact West Mercia Police or Crimestoppers.

A reward of £50,000 has been offered by the Post Office.

The National Federation of Subpostmasters held a rally in London on Wednesday, while a petition of four million names was handed into 10 Downing Street. Strike Underway At Crown Post Offices
A one-day strike is underway at some 370 Crown Post Offices across the UK, in a dispute over closures, franchising, jobs and pay. 70 of the Crown Post Offices, the bigger post office branches found on high streets, are to be franchised or partnered with a retailer.
