Businesswoman To Be UK's Oldest Mum

A 66-year-old businesswoman is set to become Britain's oldest mother, it is understood.

Elizabeth Adeney, of Lidgate, Suffolk, is reported to be eight months pregnant after travelling to the Ukraine for £10,000 IVF treatment.

Speaking to the Sunday Mirror, she said her age was not important, and claimed it is "how I feel inside" that matters.

Ms Adeney, who runs a manufacturing business near her home, will be 68 in July.

She said: "I have young girls working for me in my factory and I'm fitter than half of them.

"I don't have to defend what I've done. It's between me, my baby and no-one else."

It is understood she is divorced, and has no partner, or brother or sisters.

The oldest known mother in the UK was 62 when she gave birth in 2006, while the oldest mother in the world is thought to be an Indian woman who gave birth at the age of 70 last year.
