Woman Remanded Over 11-Year-Old's Road Death

A 27-year-old woman has appeared in court today charged with causing the death of a boy by dangerous driving.

Sam Riddall, aged 11, died when he was knocked over by a car after leaving his church youth club at Henleaze and Westbury Coummunity Church in Eastfield Road, Bristol on 1 May.

Hannah Saaf, 27, of St Michael's Hill, Kingsdown, faced Bristol Crown Court via video link on Tuesday.

She is charged with causing the death of the 11-year-old by dangerous driving along with other motoring charges.

The 27-year-old spoke only to confirm her identity and did not enter a plea when she faced the court.

The Recorder of Bristol Judge Tom Crowther QC remanded her in custody to HMP Eastwood Park.

The case was adjourned to August 17 for a plea and case management hearing.

Ms Saaf also faces charges of failing to stop at an accident, failing to report an accident, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and driving without insurance.

23 Charged With Drug Offences Following Raids
More than 20 people have been charged with drug offences following a number of raids carried out in London, Gravesend, Dover and Deal. A total of 23 people were arrested during twenty raids carried out over three days. The suspects, ranging in age from 17 to 52, have all been charged in connection with the supply of class A drugs.

Two Men In Court After Teenager Dies In Collision
A further two men have appeared at Coventry Magistrates Court in connection with a collision where a teenager tragically lost her life. Lucy Commins, 16, was a passenger in a Mercedes CLK that collided with a Volkswagon Golf at the junction of Hinckley Road and Woodway Lane at around 11.25pm on Saturday 22 February. Lucy died at the scene.

Mobile Customers To Share £1m Refund
Mobile provide EE is to refund around £1m to a number of customers wrongly charged VAT between October 2012 and October 2014. It is understood that EE customers who travelled outside the EU during those dates and used internet data were affected by the charges. The company estimated it as being about 0.5% of its customers.

Woman Charged With Drink Driving Offences
A woman is due to appear in court after being charged with drink driving and being drunk in charge of a child offences. Kristiane Larsson, 36, of Rose Hill in Sutton, was arrested after a car overturned in a caravan park in Selsey on 23 May. Another woman aged 35 along with four children, two girls and two boys, escaped the crash unhurt.
