Inquiry After 13-Year-Old Girl Raped

A police inquiry is underway into the alleged rape of a 13-year-old girl, in an attack believed to have been carried out by a number of men.

Five men have been arrested after the teenager was raped and forced to engage in other sex acts in the Hoveringham Park area of Harehills, Leeds, on Saturday night.

The men are aged between 17 and their mid-20s. They have been released on bail.

The girl was found wandering in a traumatic condition the following morning at about 5am.

She is thought to have told police she was raped by one man in the Chatsworth Road area of Harehills at about 7pm on Saturday after being forced to engage in sexual activities with at least 12 others.

Specially trained officers are now looking after the teenager.

"Police are investigating allegations of a serious sexual assault on a 13-year-old girl which took place on Saturday evening in the Hoveringham Park area of Harehills," a police spokeswoman said.

“Five males, aged between 17 and mid-20s, were arrested in connection with the incident.

"All five have been bailed pending further inquiries."

Witnesses or anyone with information are being asked to contact police.
