Man Arrested Over 'Brutal' Pensioner Murder
Police investigating the brutal murder of an elderly woman at her home in Hull have arrested a 20-year-old man.
Joan Charlton, 85, was found dead at her home in West Parade on Thursday after a "sustained and brutal attack" in which every bone in her face was broken, police said.
Her body was found at her terraced home, where she lived alone, after a call from a member of the public.
Police have arrested a 20-year-old local man on Sunday. He is being held in custody.
Senior investigating officer Det Supt Dena Fleming said: “Joan died from a sustained and brutal attack.
"She died from head injuries but every bone in her face has been fractured.
"This was a violent attack of an elderly lady in her own home, where you would expect to feel safe and be safe."

Renewed Appeal Over Fatal Bury Attack
Police have renewed their appeal for information regarding the brutal beating of a man in Bury. Andrew Anderson, 46, was attacked in Elms Playing Fields, known locally as Dunkirk Park, off Rufford Drive on Sunday 1 March. He was approached by a group men, who began to kick and punch him. Andrew fell to the ground and was knocked unconscious.

Police Lose High Court Pay Battle
Police officers have lost their High Court battle for a 2.5% pay rise to be paid in full. Home Secretary Jacqui Smith refused to implement their pay award in full, which has led to bitterness among the ranks. The Police Federation said that Ms Smith has acted unlawfully.
