Divers Find Body In Quarry

Police divers searching a disused quarry for a 15-year-old schoolboy who went missing while swimming have found a body.

Daniel Steedman was swimming with three friends at Humbie Quarry in Kirkliston, West Lothian, at around 5pm on Thursday when he got into difficulties and disappeared under the water.

The search operation involved boat teams, divers and a helicopter from HMS Gannet.

The body was recovered by divers at around 11pm.

A spokesman for Lothian and Borders Police said: "The boy was with a group of friends at Humbie Quarry when it would appear he got into some difficulty.

"The friends made their way to a nearby house to raise the alarm."
