Man Dies In Quarry Incident

A man has died following an incident at a disused quarry in Gwynedd.

Two other people are being treated in hospital.

At around 1.15pm on Sunday, North Wales Police received a report that a man had gotten into difficulties at the Dorothea Quarry in the Nantlle Valley area.

The 41-year-old diver, who has not been named, got into difficulty while 40 meters beneath the surface. He was pulled from the water by two other divers. Emergency services arrived at the scene and the man was taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The two divers who pulled him from the flooded quarry were taken to a specialist unit at Wirral and are undergoing de-compression treatment.

North Wales Police has said they are investigating the incident.

Man Dies in 'Serious' Quarry Accident
A quarry worker has died following a "serious accident" at a site in Northumberland. It is understood the incident occurred at Harden Quarry, near Rothbury, shortly after 10.30am on Wednesday morning, 7 October. The accident is thought to have involved a tractor.

Police Shoot Man Following Stabbing Incident In Hersden
A man has been shot by police after being called to attend an incident in Hersden where a woman was stabbed. Police initially attended the scene at around 11.20pm on Sunday followed by firearms officers and police negotiators. The man and woman, who are members of the same family, are both in a critical condition in hospital.

Police shoot man dead following 'domestic' incident
Armed police in Cornwall have shot dead a man after they were called to a 'domestic incident' an isolated address in the Duchy. Following what police described as "threats of violence," armed officers were sent to Lewannick near Launceston at about 9pm on Monday May 3.
