Action Renewables is a Northern Ireland based programme to stimulate awareness of the issues associated with conventional energy use and of the range of solutions available through renewable energy technologies.
The Action Renewables programme has a number of elements including general awareness-raising through advertising using billboard posters, electricity bill inserts, a major TV advertising campaign and a series of dedicated seminars. The ‘Take it for Granted’ TV advert has the potential to be seen by every member of the public. The advertisement demonstrates the link between increasing electricity consumption and global warming. It also highlights Northern Ireland’s many opportunities to generate electricity from renewable energy sources.
Homes and communities are being assisted with a comprehensive information and advice service through the Action Renewables Advisory Service.
The programme is a joint venture between Government (Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment) and local energy group Viridian.
