Shots Fired At House In West Belfast

Police are appealing for information after a number of shots were fired at a house in West Belfast.

The incident occurred in the Aitnamona Crescent area on Wednesday, 19 April. 

Detective Inspector Mark McHaffie said: "Just after 10pm, a number of shots were fired at the house. Two people were in the property at the time however no-one was injured.

"We are carrying out a number of follow-up enquiries and we are particularly keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time.

"Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact detectives at Musgrave on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 1317 19/04/2017. Information can also be given anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."

Work To Begin To Replace Roundabout In West Belfast
Construction work to replace the roundabout in Kennedy Way in west Belfast is to start in July. The roundabout will be replaced with a new signalised junction as part of the Belfast Rapid Transit project. The new junction will improve the control of traffic movements and provide controlled pedestrian facilities throughout the junction.

Plans Approved For 70 New Homes In Belfast
Planning permission has been approved to develop 70 new homes in Ballysillan, Belfast. The new semi-detached and townhouse dwellings will be located on lands at Benview Avenue and Benview Park. Belfast City Council also gave the go-ahead for over 60 homes to be built at Station View in Dunmurry.

Police Appeal After Attempted Robbery In North Belfast
Police have launched an investigation following an attempted robbery in north Belfast. The incident happened at a shop on Skegoniel Avenue at around 7.30pm on Thursday, 15 June. One man entered the shop and demanded money while the other man stood outside. A female worker scared off the robbers and they fled the scene empty handed.

Belfast Woman Jailed For Attempting To Murder PSNI Officer
A Belfast woman has received over 16 years behind bars for attempting to murder a police officer in 2013. Christine Connor pleaded guilty in May to attempting to murder a police officer in the Crumlin Road area of Belfast on 28 May, 2013, as well as a number of terrorism offences.

Investigation Launched Following Armed Robbery In North Belfast
Police have launched an investigation following an armed robbery at a shop in north Belfast. Two men, one armed with a knife, entered the premises on the Ardoyne Road at around 10.45pm on Sunday, 18 June. A male worker was threatened and a quantity of cigarettes were stolen. Members of the public intervened and the pair made off.

Man Charged Over Fatal Stabbing In Belfast
An 18-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Hazem Ahmed Ghreir. Mr Ghreir, aged in his 30s, was fatally stabbed in the Downshire Place area in Belfast on Sunday, 04 June. The suspect is to appear at Belfast Magistrates' Court today, Wednesday, 07 June. Mr Ghreir's death is not being treated as a hate crime.

Superman Prequel To Be Shot At Belfast Harbour Studios
Superman prequel 'Krypton' is the first major production to be shot at the new £20million Belfast Harbour Studios, it has been confirmed. A one-hour series from Phantom Four, in association with Warner Horizon Scripted Television for the SYFY channel, will commence pre-production in Belfast this month with a shoot date of late summer.

A police motorcyclist has been injured after becoming trapped under a car following a collision in Belfast. The crash happened in Great Patrick Street on Tuesday, 06 June. He was taken to hospital to be treated and a woman, aged in her 40s, was treated for shock at the scene.

Gun And Ammunition Found In South Belfast
Police have launched an investigation after a gun and ammunition were recovered during a search in south Belfast. The discovery was made in the Annadale Crescent area on Wednesday, 16 November. The items have been taken away for forensic examination. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
