Debate To Be Held On Pope Invitation
The Pope could be extended an invitation to visit Belfast, pending a debate by councillors.
According to a report by UTV, the SDLP have tabled a motion proposing extending an invitation should the pontiff ever visit Ireland, claiming that such a move would "would send out a strong message to the rest of the world about how we are progressing, especially after the failure of the Haass talks."
Woman Jailed For Fleeing Restaurant Without Paying
A 26-year-old woman has been jailed for a month for leaving a Belfast restaurant without paying her bill of £37.90.
Eimear Symington, with an address on the Falls Road in Belfast, pleaded guilty to fleeing the Potted Hen without paying on 23 February.
She will also serve a second month after a suspended sentence from a previous theft case was activated.
Former Royal Irish Regiment soldier Captain Beattie To Join UUP
Former Royal Irish Regiment soldier Captain Doug Beattie has announced that he is to join the Ulster Unionist Party (UUP).
UUP leader Mike Nesbitt said: "Doug has spent the last 32 years in uniform, winning the Military Cross for service in Afghanistan and a Queen`s Commendation for bravery in Iraq."
"As he winds down his military career, he feels the time is right to find another way to serve his country. I am delighted he has chosen politics and the Ulster Unionist Party.

UUP Supports New Campaign For Youth Voter Registration
The Ulster Unionist Party has expressed its support for a new campaign to drive youth voter registration through the post-16 curriculum. Highlighting that the UUP supports reducing the voting age to 16, Education spokesperson, Robbie Butler, has welcomed the new Feminism in School campaign.
