Crossbow Used In Belfast Robbery

News has just emerged of a bizarre armed robbery in south Belfast.

A gang armed with a loaded crossbow targeted a house in the lower Lisburn Road area yesterday.

Police said that three men, one of whom was also armed with a hammer, entered the property at Tate's Avenue at about 8.15pm on Monday.

They said that two people in the house, a male and a female resident, aged 20 and 19, were both bundled into a room while the property was ransacked.

The occupants were not injured but said to be badly shaken. Car keys, mobile phones, a computer console and a laptop were stolen.

Detectives have appealed for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

They have described one of the gang as about 30-years-old, 5ft 10ins tall, with a well-trimmed dark beard.

Another is described as 18 to 20-years-old and of slim build. The third is described as about 20-years-old and approximately 5ft 8ins tall.
