Yard Holds Two On Terror Charges

Two men have been arrested in London over alleged terrorism offences, Scotland Yard has confirmed.

The men, aged 25 and 39, were arrested during raids at separate homes in north-west and west London early on Tuesday morning.

The pair have been detained on suspicion of the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism and are being held in custody at a London police station.

Man Shot By Police In East London
A man has been arrested in an east London hospital where he is being treated for gunshot wounds. It is understood that the man was shot by armed police at around 8.15pm in the Hale End Road in Walthamstow. Police had responded to reports of a man with a handgun.

A rapist has been sentenced at Inner London Crown Court following his earlier conviction. Rafal Piotr Smucz, 29, of no fixed address was jailed indefinitely and ordered to serve a minimum of six years.

A south London man has been jailed for 25 years for tying to shoot a policeman. Michael Mitchell, 32, of Babington Road, Streatham, was convicted of attempting to murder Pc Shaun Callow, possession of a firearm and possession of drugs with intent to supply.

Teenager Arrested Over Rape Of 12-Year-Old Girl
A 17-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the rape of 12-year-old girl in east London. Three males lead the girl to a "secluded" end of a street in Walthamstow at around 00:15 on Saturday before two of them attacked her, held her down and raped her.

Former England footballers arrested over limo theft
Two former England footballers have been arrested on suspicion of the theft of a limousine, it has been reported. Rob Lee, 38 and Warren Barton, 41, were arrested after police were called to Hackney Road in east London following reports of a car being stolen, around 11:30pm on Tuesday night.
