Weddings and Events
Clandeboye courtyard is the perfect wedding reception venue. It is yours for the day and we can assist in making it a unique and special occasion. We can arrange a variety of activities in the Courtyard to entertain your guests.

Clandeboye Estate is one of the most beautiful private country estates in the country and a stunning location for special events and weddings in Northern Ireland.

The Courtyard at Clandeboye has been carefully transformed to create a picturesque and highly flexible wedding venue that offers the perfect location for your day, whatever your requirements may be.

Situated within easy reach of Belfast and the City Airport, the estate is an exclusive countryside haven that has been home to the Blackwood family for over 400 years.

Yoghurt
Once upon a time in the heart of County Down there was a herd of very happy pedigree cows…. rolling hills, acres of fresh green pastures, warm dry barns for when there’s a chill in the air and a Lady owner who loves them so much she paints their portraits!

It’s no surprise that Willow, Cecilia, Mabel and the other pampered girls at the historic Clandeboye Estate produce vast amounts of deliciously creamy milk that is used to produce Northern Ireland’s only locally made cows’ milk yoghurt.

Golf
Over the years I have taken great pleasure in watching Blackwood Golf Centre mature into one of Northern Ireland’s finest pay and play golf facilities. Sitting amongst the ancient woodlands of the Clandeboye Estate, Our Hamilton and Temple Courses have long had a reputation for their beauty. Now, with years of continual improvement to layout and drainage along with expert green keeping, they have developed into fine examples of parkland golf.

Courtyard
Clandeboye Courtyard dates from the early 18th Century and is set in the heart of the historic Clandeboye Estate, whose magnificent entrance and driveway enhance any occasion.

The Courtyard itself measures about 50 metres by 50 metres and has a fascinating central dove cote. It is fully enclosed by the various buildings and rooms listed below to provide a sheltered area that is used for outdoor events all year round. It is even floodlit for evening events. Marquees can be erected in the Courtyard to extend the capacity of the main halls.

Dairy
We breed high yielding, long lasting Holstein and Jersey cows. We have won many awards including Supreme Champion at the Irish National Holstein Show and Exhibitor Bred Champion at the Royal Ulster.

The Clandeboye Herd consists of approximately 70 Holstein and 30 Jersey cows. Cows have been milked at Clandeboye since the 1950s. There was some early interest in pedigree breeding, but it was not until 1992 that the Clandeboye prefix came back into use.

Sawmill
Clandeboye has a broad range of products that reflect the diverse nature of an estate that has evolved over so many centuries.

In recent years we have been able to restore old buildings to new uses and harvest our beautiful woodlands in a sustainable way to produce firewood from trees that fall or need to be replaced. We also grow Christmas trees as a nurse crop to help replacement oak tree to establish themselves.

Helen's Tower
Helen’s Tower was designed in 1848 by William Burn in the Scottish style and construction was completed in October 1861. It was part of an ambitious landscape project by Lord Dufferin covering the five miles between it and the coast at Helen’s Bay. The tower was named in honour of his mother Helen, who was a grand daughter of Richard Brinsley Sheridan, the great Irish playwright, orator and politician.
