Irish Navy Joins Search For Missing Fishermen

The search for two fishermen, missing off the east coast of Ireland, is continuing with naval aid.

The Irish naval force has joined the hunt for 26-year-old Ronan Browne and 41-year-old David Gilsenan, from the Skerries area.

The pair failed to return to Skerries Harbour after a lobster fishing trip on Friday and now the naval patrol vessel Le Emer is co-ordinating the search in the Irish sea. Navy divers also joined Garda divers, the Coast Guard, volunteer lifeboat crews, and local fishing vessels yesterday.

In the last five days local trawlermen have been scanning sea area from Howth to Carlingford for the missing men.

On Sunday morning small items of clothing belonging to the men were found at Braymore point.

A Coast Guard unit from Newcastle, Co Down, is also due to join in the search along the eastern Northern Ireland coastline.

Both men were experienced fishermen and qualified marine engineers.
