Hit & Run Death Car Dumped In Forest
A Vauxhall Corsa car suspected of being involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash in Co Tyrone has been found in a forest.
The PSNI said the victim died as a result of his injuries overnight. Detectives from the Serious Crime Branch have now launched a murder enquiry as a result and have named the victim as 37-year-old Declan Quinn from Coalisland.
They also said that a 20-year-old male was arrested on Monday in the Dungannon area on suspicion of assisting offenders and withholding information in connection with the ongoing investigation.
The dead man was left critically ill after being struck on the Gortgonis Road, Coalisland, at 10.30am on Saturday.
The driver did not stop, and in an apparent attempt to conceal the eveidence, the car was dumped in the Drumcairne Forest on the Ballygittle Road, Stewartstown on Monday.
Detectives in Dungannon are now continuing to appeal for information in relation to the incident and have asked for information.
Anyone with any knowledge of the weekend events are being asked to contact detectives at Dungannon PSNI.
A PSNI statement said: "Detectives are particularly keen to speak with anyone who may have witnessed this vehicle or its driver over the past few days near Drumcairne Forest or in the surrounding area.
"The number to ring is on 0845 600 8000 or alternatively, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111."
Tragedy
The Sinn Féin MLA for Mid-Ulster Francie Molly has also called on anyone with information regarding the death of Declan Quinn in Coalisland to bring it forward immediately to the PSNI.
"Sinn Féin offer our sincere sympathy to the Declan Quinn's family. This is a tragic event which I'm sure has left the family distraught and has shocked the local community.
"The facts surrounding this case still need to be brought to light and I call on anyone with information on Declan Quinn's death to bring it forward to the PSNI."

Detective Sergeant Long confirmed that officers attended a property in the Aspen Park area shortly before 2.30pm on Thursday, 27 November 2025, where they found a man suffering from significant injuries.

PSNI detectives have issued an appeal for information following a pipe bomb attack at a house in L'Derry last night, Wednesday, 18 October. At around 11.30pm last night, a device partially exploded at the bck door of a house in Heron Way. A woman, aged in her 20s, was in the house at the time of the explosion but was uninjured.

PSNI and Gardai officers are carrying out searches in Co Louth for a woman originally from Belfast who is believed to have been murdered. Saoirse Smyth was last seen in the city on 11 April 2017 and detectives believe she returned to her home in Omeath, County Louth, later that day.
