Man Arrested Over Dissident Republicanism
A man has been arrested in Newry, County Down on suspicion of dissident republican terrorism.
The 29-year-old was detained by police on Thursday following searches in the Derrybeg and Main Avenue areas of the city.
A number of items have been removed for police examination following the operation.
The man has been taken to Antrim police station for questioning.
Pair Charged With Child Cruelty
A former couple have been charged with 22 counts of child neglect, child cruelty and assaults on two children.
The defendants, who cannot be named, appeared at Londonderry Magistrates Court.
They are alleged to have committed the offences between 2006 and 2011.
A preliminary inquiry heard both defendants have nothing to say at this stage, but their defence solicitor has said his clients had a prima facie case to answer.
The pair have been released on a bail of £500 and will appear before the Crown Court next month.
Sex Offender Calls For Facebook Page Removal
A High Court has heard a plea from a convicted sex offender to remove a Facebook page set up to monitor paedophiles in Northern Ireland.
The man, who cannot be named, claims he could be attacked after comments were posted about him on the page.
His lawyers have claimed his safety could be at risk.
The page is called 'Keeping our kids safe from predators'. The man’s lawyers want the people who set up the page to be identified.
The man is currently out on licence after serving a prison sentence for sexual offences.
He discovered his photo and threatening comments had been posted on the page following his release.
Now he is claiming harassment, misuse of private information and a breach of human rights.
Facebook has removed his photograph and the comments in question, but his barristers argue the page should removed completely.
Woman Injured In Lagan Bridge Pile-Up
A woman was taken to hospital on Wednesday evening following a pile-up on the Lagan Bridge in east Belfast.
The five-vehicle pile-up caused both Bangor-bound carriageways towards the Sydenham by-pass to be blocked for several hours.
The road has now re-opened and it has been reported the woman does not have life-threatening injuries.
Rush hour traffic faced long delays following the accident.

A convicted sex offender has won a court case to have a Northern Ireland paedophile watch group’s Facebook page removed. 'Keeping our kids safe from predators' currently has just under 5,000 'likes' on Facebook, but will now be removed within 72 hours after the plaintiff won his High Court Case.

Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal crash in Co Fermanagh. A 42-year-old man died in the crash which happened on the Belfast Road in Brookeborough at around 8.35am on Friday, 08 June. The man was the driver of one of the vehicles involved. Police are appealing to anyone who may have dash can footage to contact them.

Man Arrested Following Incident At House In Coleraine
A 43-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an incident at a house in Coleraine, Co L'Derry. It happened at a property on Knockantern Grove in the Mountsandel area on Tuesday, 16 August. The suspect has been arrested on suspicion of possessing of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an offence and assault on police.
