Homes Targeted In Petrol Bomb Attack

Police have said up to five petrol bombs were thrown at a home in the Short Strand area of east Belfast on Sunday night.

Three of the devices landed at the rear of the property in Strand Walk while the remaining two were found at the front.

No-one was injured and no damaged was caused to the property in the attack, which happened around 11.30pm.

Police have asked for anyone with information about the incident to contact them.

Pensioner Assaulted Beside NI Hospice

An 84-year-old has suffered a broken arm after she was assaulted in north Belfast.

The attack happened around 2.30pm on Sunday beside the Northern Ireland Hospice.

She was out walking with a friend when she was pushed in the back by an unknown assailant who then stole her purse and bag.

The woman has been treated in hospital for her injury and cuts and bruises.

Police have appealed for anyone in the area to contact them.

Man Dies In One Vehicle Collision

A 23-year-old man has died in hospital after a one-vehicle car accident.

The crash happened on the Coole Road, Dungannon, Co Tyrone last Sunday (16 June).

The collision involved a silver BMW and it is understood the man, was a front seat passenger.

Two other men, aged 19 and 23, were taken to hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Five Men Jailed Over Drugs Import

Five men from Northern Ireland have been jailed for importing drugs worth a street value of £1.2m, the BBC has said.

Seven kilograms of cocaine, 44kg of amphetamines and 40kg of cannabis were seized in NI and England in February 2010 and police believe the drugs came from Holland, but were moved to England before being taken to Co Down.

The men were sentenced to between four and six years and will serve half their sentences in jail and half on licence.

A Dutch national was sentenced in connection with the 2010 seizure last month, while another man from Northern Ireland will be sentenced at a later date.

'Significant Reduction' In Crime Across Northern Ireland
The PSNI have recorded a "significant reduction" in crime across all districts in Northern Ireland in the last year. Deputy Chief Constable Chris Todd welcomed the decrease in recorded crime, but also raised over the service's ability to "repeat such a strong performance" without finding sustainable funding.

Police Officers Disciplined For Failing To Tell Doctor About Woman's Head Injuries
Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

Hospital Parking Charges Temporarily Removed
The Department of Health has warned of possible disruption at hospital sites over the next week, advising patients, visitors and staff to leave extra time to get to appointments or when accessing hospital sites. The warning comes after hospital parking charges were unexpectedly suspended.
